Workshops Introduction
How to convincingly and confidently present yourself, your product or company, give a speech or a lecture, while remaining authentic?
Speak Through Fear is a workshop developed by Ivana Jozic to enhance the capabilities of public speaking. The aim of the workshop is to help participants find their own voice and style of expression that is authentic to them through an individualised approach. The workshop is fundamentally based on practice.
Practice
The workshop consists of three parts:
1) Identifying general problems within public speaking:
- articulating common difficulties
- developing questions related to these themes
- sharing and comparing perspectives
- structuring ideas
2) Detecting and analysing person-specific problems within public speaking:
- noticing and bringing awareness to an individual’s limitations
- creating a space to engage with those limitations
3) Working on solutions
- finding personalised solutions
- implementing them while working on their chosen speech
Very often public speaking is perceived as a mental activity, only. Apart from the mental component, speaking publicly requires a strong physical presence. Therefore, this workshop aims to awaken bodily senses and increase physical awareness, through physical practice (stretching, moving, relaxation exercises, etc). Additionally, we will practice breathing, concentration techniques and voice exercises. The purpose is to merge all the elements (voice, body and mental concentration) into one integrated structure that interacts in a harmonious way.
The goal of the workshop is not to learn a particular technique or method, but to return to the authentic space of each participant and find a natural, relaxed, and integrated way for public presentation or public appearance.
Practical Information
The workshop will be held in a pleasant atmosphere with a maximum of 10 participants, respecting all epidemiological measures.
Every participant needs to come to the workshop with a prepared speech (on paper or knowing it by heart) that is somehow relevant or important to them. For example, presenting yourself, your brand, company, pitch…etc.
